Mansfield-Mt Buller Adventure Weekend
TBA 2007

Event Format

Day one - Saturday

Day One is based around Lake Eildon so some great paddling is in store - not to mention some great single track and some testing navigation. The start is at Goughs Bay, about 20km from Mansfield (allow 20 minutes driving time).

Day One includes paddling (using the Voyager III provided by AROC Sport), mountain biking and running/walking. Navigation is involved - You will need to have some navigation experience. You will be given maps and instructions at registration. The course is much like the format of the AROC Adventures but a little longer, a little harder and more bush than urban based. Expect some hills and some sweet single track.

It will take teams between 4 - 8 hours to complete the course. The approximate total distances for day 1 are 8km paddling, 35km on the mountain bike and 15km on foot.

After you finish the first day's course make your way to Mt Buller. You can stop in Mansfield and check out some of the local cafes. You might also want to pick up some supplies for lunch the next day.

The dinner for Saturday night and included in your entry is up the mountain in the Mt Buller village at the Cattleman's Cafe, just beneath the chairlift and with great views of the valley below. The bar will be open and this is your chance to meet other teams, swap stories about the day's highlights and view some of the day's footage.

Bunk down in a nice hotel and get your rest for the next day.....

Day Two - Sunday

Day Two is based up at Mt Buller so there is no traveling for this day. It is a new course and includes mountain biking (some more single track), running/walking, navigation, abseiling and a few surprises. There will not be any paddling in Day Two.

Day Two will take teams between 4 to 8 hours to complete the course. For Day 2 there is around 40km on the bike and 15km on foot plus some abseiling.

For both days the distances given are total approximate distances only and these are split into lots of different shorter legs – it is an adventure remember.

The weekend finishes with a big dinner, presentation and party at the ABOM - Mt Buller's famous party house. There will be lots of prizes, a big slide show and local band "Don't Ask" so make sure you pack your dancing shoes.
