Lifestart Kayak for Kids is an inspirational paddling challenge on Sydney Harbour. It raises funds for very special kids aged from birth to school age who have an intellectual disability or developmental delay. These include conditions more widely known such as Down syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder to much rarer genetic disorders. Lifestart provides early childhood intervention services to ensure these kids have the best possible start in life.

Lifestart Kayak for Kids is a 17.5km course running from Blues Point to Clontarf in four stages of approximately 4.5km.

Lifestart Kayak for Kids has three overall categories. The first is a single or doubles challenge for experienced paddlers who have their own craft. The second is a team challenge for teams of three people and the third is a team challenge for relay teams of from four to twelve people. For team challenge categories, hire of a three-seater kayak, paddles and life vests is included in the entry fee.
Lifestart Kayak for Kids is is the perfect event for family, friends or work colleagues to enjoy together. Alan and Therese Yeung paddled in the inaugural event in March 2008 and again in 2009 in two teams that included young Mia (8 years old) and Macy (5 years old). They said: “This is a great event for getting together with our family and friends and we will certainly be back in 2010!”
